Sunflower Mini Sessions at Dogwood Farms

Sunflower Mini Sessions at Dogwood Farms in Belews Creek have become a yearly tradition for us. Nothing says “summer” like their bright, joyful blooms. Each year we meet new families that become some of our most loved clients. We also have several families that come back to us because this had become a summer tradition for them, too. This beautiful farm opens up for families and photographers with acres and acres of gorgeous sunflowers and wildflowers. It is one of my most favorite times of the year!

The Davis Family

We had a wonderful time with the Davis family and found out we had a lot in common when their oldest showed up wearing her Mardi Gras beads. They explained how they, being originally from New Orleans, were trying to teach their girls all about the beautiful city. It was really fun getting her to smile by yelling “Who Dat?” And “Go Saints!”

The Cook Family

We really enjoyed spending time with the Cook family. Chasing their two boys through the sunflowers was so much fun. These two brothers have such a special bond and just loved being in front of the camera. Such a sweet family!

Laurel

It was such an honor to celebrate this sweet girl’s first birthday! She wasn’t too sure about being the center of attention in front of the camera, but we were able to get a few smiles. And can you believe those
GORGEOUS eyes?!?!

Claire and Chloe

Claire and Chloe were an absolute blast! Laughing with them was the highlight of our evening. Both girls were naturals in front of the camera! Claire is a beautiful soccer star and Chloe is the diva of the family (if you can’t tell). She loved showing off her dance moves!

Luna

Luna brought her mom, grandma, and great-grandma to come and celebrate her first birthday – that’s right – FOUR generations! What a blessing! This little girl is growing up surrounded by so much love. She has the cutest smile – and man did she make us work for it! She loved looking at all the flowers (and eating a few, too!)

Presley

Jaime was one of the first people to book a sunflower session when we announced them because she wanted some special photos to celebrate Presley’s first birthday (yep – I got to photograph THREE adorable first birthdays!) Jaime told me that Presley was their unexpected miracle! I was honored to photograph such a special little girl.

Angel and Hannah

Angel and Hannah were with us last year and could not wait for the sunflowers to bloom again. This time, Angel had bought special matching outfits for a mommy and me session. These black polka-dots were so cute against the sunflowers. They even let Daddy join in a few shots! Hannah is such a sweet, joyful little girl.

Natalia and Alexander

We are so excited for Natalie and Alex! She is due very soon with their first baby – a little girl! I just loved her blue dress! She just popped next to the yellow flowers. I loved it when Alex joined in the photos – he is such a strong, protective father. They are so excited to meet their princess!

Kristy and Kory

Last, but definitely not least, Kristy and Kory drove over an hour and half to come and celebrate their 9th Wedding Anniversary with us! This was their first professional photo shoot since their wedding, but they were the professionals in front of the camera! Seriously, they made some magic out there in the flowers. We wish them many more blessed years of happiness together.
