Is a first look right for you? Every bride dreams of that moment when her groom sees her for the first time. Many brides are hesitant to consider a first look because they want that reaction from the groom when they walk down the aisle. This is traditionally how it is done, but weddings today are all about shaking up tradition and making them your own.
The First Look is a great opportunity to shake the nerves and relax before the ceremony. Many brides (and grooms) feel very nervous before the ceremony begins. This is very normal and can sometimes range from the jitters to a full-on panic! Setting aside time for a first look can give you a moment to pause with your partner and take a few deep breaths together!

A First Look gives the Bride and Groom time alone together. This is a wonderful time to share sweet words or a moment of prayer together. We also find grooms are able to let their guard down and be more open with their bride during this time.
***A note about the Groom – Many grooms express emotion during the First Look, but some do not. If he is not typically an emotional guy, its okay if he’s not on your wedding day. Don’t let the pressure of expectation rob you, or your groom, of the unique experience you will both share together on this day!
A First Look will provide the opportunity for significantly more couple portraits. By scheduling a first look, we can help you prepare a timeline that allows us to capture a majority of the portraits before the ceremony even begins! We can do portraits of the family and wedding party, as well as romantic photos ( and still have time to steal you away at sunset for a few more!) Doing a first look significantly changes your wedding day timeline and how many portraits are curated for your gallery.
Planning alone time and portraits before the ceremony will give you more time to spend with your groom before the rush of the day begins. It builds in one more opportunity to create beautiful traditions and memories as you start your family together.
Still aren’t convinced? That’s okay! Your wedding is unique to YOU and your traditions. Another type of first look that is becoming very popular is a first look with Dad or another significant family member. For Dad’s especially, this is a great opportunity for him to let his guard down before giving away his little girl. Creating those memories with Dad or other important people in your life are what make your wedding day so special. We want to help you build in as many of those memorable experiences as possible!
Thank you again Courtney Grant Photography for allowing us to join you as a second-shooter for this beautiful wedding!
