Every woman should take portraits just because. I am a firm believer in that. I also believe we regret the photos not taken more than the ones we do.
I know I do.
That is one reason I (Alisha) began photographing boudoir portraits. But this post isn’t exactly about that, because even if you aren’t yet brave enough for a boudoir session, you should still have professional portraits done for no other reason than just to celebrate YOU. You may want to celebrate a special milestone, a promotion, a relationship – whatever! Those are all great reasons to schedule a portrait session. But honestly, you don’t need a reason other than you exist and you deserve to feel cherished and beautiful.
After looking through the photos below, maybe you will be ready to schedule your own Just Because Portrait Session!
I met Kaylee through a model call on Instagram. My friend Alexandra of Lady May’s Frocks and Frills posted this gorgeous black gown on her Instagram and I knew I needed to photograph it! I posted a model call on my instagram and Kaylee answered! She was so sweet and wanted to do a session just for her. She embraced the moment and had her own Just Because Portrait Session. We booked the down town GingerBirdie Studio. This is one of my favorite places to photograph because of the gorgeous afternoon light and the fact that I am a sucker for brick walls. At the time, their rotating wall was painted this amazing teal color. It was the perfect pop of color for Kaylee’s session.
Haley has been a dear friend of mine for a couple of years now. We met at a photographer workshop in Asheville and have been buddies ever since! When I finally got my hands on this dress, I asked Haley if she wanted to come up and take some photos in it because she is always on the other side getting everyone else camera ready. The location of the shoot isn’t technically downtown Winston, but it is a beautiful field by my house with tall grass that absolutely sings at golden hour!
I met Caitlin via another sweet friend who lives next door to her. Caitlin is a working mom and wanted a session that was just for her. She also fell in love with this gown and wanted to be photographed in it before I sent it back to Alexandra. We chose to go to another favorite spot of mine – Bailey Power Plant in downtown Winston Salem.
