As our fall wedding season is winding down, I’m spending this week getting all of the galleries sitting our editing queue finished. One of the weddings I am working on is Sydney and Jonathan’s rustic wedding at the Barn at Granite Ridge Farms. They are so fun to work with! Sydney has the most sparkling personality and Jonathan is so sweet. He absolutely adores Sydney! It will be a few days before I’m finished with their wedding gallery, but I realized their engagement session has been hiding out in my hard drive since last October. These photos are just too good to leave sitting in there without sharing!
We decided on Hanging Rock State Park because they wanted to go somewhere a little adventurous. We opted out of hiking to the top for a mountaintop session and stuck to an autumn waterfall engagement session. The foliage was much prettier in the lower elevations and still had lots of color. This is hands down one of our most favorite places to take couples for portraits. There are a lot of stairs, but if you take it slow, it is totally worth it!
Before engagement sessions, we send out a short guide about how to prepare for your session. We also wrote bout it here. One of the biggest pieces of advice we give is to plan for two outfits. Sydney and Jonathan are a perfect example of what to wear for a session like this. They started in a fun casual outfit and then switched to a second, more dressed up option for the other half of their session. I absolutely loved Sydney’s green velvet dress. She proudly told me she found this Calvin Klein dress at Ross! It was so perfect for this session and location.
