It has been just over a year since Melissa and Phillip’s November Wedding at Dennis Vineyards. This last year has been absolutely transformational for them both. Not only did they get married, but not long ofter found out they were going to be parents! They just welcomed their first son a few weeks ago!
This was our first wedding at this venue. It was so charming. I fell in love with all of the golden grape leaves! When I asked what made her decide on Dennis Vineyards she said, “We always knew we wanted a classically romantic venue for our dream wedding, and most places closer to central NC didn’t have the same sweet and intimate aesthetic that Dennis Vineyards has. We walked into the different spaces that the Vineyards have to offer and were moved by each one of them!”
The Vineyard was the perfect backdrop for Melissa and Phillip’s wedding, especially for their color scheme of gold, sage green, and ivory. Melissa told me, “We weren’t particular on any set colors, however, many people tell us the lighter colors suit my fiancé and I, and we had to agree!” Phillip’s tan suit look great and was perfectly complemented by the sage green accessories. The groomsmen also wore tan suits from VIP Formal and looked great standing next to the bridesmaids in sage green gowns from Azazie.
Melissa looked stunning in her gown. It was a classic fitted silhouette with vintage details by Melissa Sweet. She said, “I was mesmerized by the timeless look and the delicate beading on the Chantilly lace! It spoke to the side of me that loves fashion of the past!” Her flawless hair and makeup was completed by The Makeup Team.
Melissa was the first bride to tell me about the tradition of wedding perfume. She said a brides should purchase a special perfume they have never worn before for their wedding day. After the wedding – they can wear it again for special occasions or date nights and the smell will take them back to their wedding day. I love this tradition so much and I have since told several other brides about it!
Before the ceremony, Melissa wanted to do a first look with her parents first and then with Phillip. The first look with her parents was so touching. There were so many happy tears! Phillip was excited to do the first look before the ceremony to help him with his wedding jitters. They were able to share a few special moments together before the wedding started.
During the ceremony, rings and vows were exchanged. There was also a new tradition I had never seen before – unity wine. Being a beautiful November Wedding at Dennis Vineyards, unity wine made sense. Each of their mothers filled a glass of wine, much like each mother would light a traditional unity candle. During the wine ceremony, Melissa and Phillip each poured their glass of wine into a single glass, mixing the wines. The two wines became inseparable, just like Melissa and Phillip would become, and they drank from the single glass.
The reception that followed was filled with good food, good wine, and lots of laughter! The couple shared their first dance, as well as dances with their mother and father. The guests enjoyed the dance floor with Dow Oak Events and the delicious cake by Sky’s the Limit Bridal Sweets. It was a fantastic night!
