When love knows no bounds, distance can never be a barrier. Virginia, a North Carolina native, and Jakob, a handsome man from Austria, proved just that! They met in London and embarked on a two-year long-distance relationship. After Virginia made the brave decision to leave her life in the states and move to Austria to be with Jakob, the couple officially tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC.
The couple’s attention to detail was evident from the moment guests arrived at the ceremony. Katie Brooks Event Co excuted their vistion perfectly. The Welcoming District designed a special family crest to honor their new family. They used the crest throughout the wedding, including their invitation suite by the Paper Goat Post. Luxurious pastel florals were a highlight of the ceremony space and reception held in the Farm at Old Edwards Inn. Spring Vine beautifully designed all of the couples stunning florals.. The delicate blooms perfectly complemented the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere of the day.
Jakob wore a custom suit by Zebel Bespoke in a classic Austrian style. Virginia wore a classic gown from White Magnolia Bridal, and her bridesmaids were dressed in gowns from Shop Revelry. Anarie Beauty completed her wedding hair and makeup look. Virginia’s delicate custom embroidery on her gloves was the perfect finishing touch to her stunning wedding attire. They say, “Love is like a butterfly, a rare & gentle thing.”
Virginia followed the tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. She incorporated her great great grandmother’s cameo brooch, pinned to her bouquet, as her something old. A family friend made a bouquet wrap out of her great grandmother’s handkerchiefs, a piece of her bridesmaid dresses, and a scrap from her wedding dress as her something new. Virginia wore a necklace from Jakob’s mother as something borrowed. She wore her shoes as her something blue.
The ceremony was held in the Orchard House, one of the many wedding venue spaces at the Old Edwards Inn. Spring Vine beautifully adorned the space with large floral designs. Dean’s Duets played romantic melodies as guests found their seats. They all stood breathless as Virginia walked into the room with her father. After stating their vows, Virginia and Jakob participated in a traditional hand-fasting ceremony.
The thoughtful speeches from family and friends included a traditional Austrian wedding song, adding an extra touch of culture and tradition to the celebration. The entertainment by The Radio Sparks was fantastic! The couple also participated in a choreographed dance that showcased their love and commitment to each other in a beautiful and memorable way.
As the couple celebrates their wedding in North Carolina before returning to Austria, their love story serves as a reminder that love can be found when you least expect it. Virginia and Jakob’s careful attention to detail and thoughtful incorporation of traditions from both of their cultures made for a truly unforgettable day. It was an honor to bear witness to the beautiful celebration of love. I am so thankful to Tricia Micheal Photography for asking me to join her as a second-shooter to this wedding. I truly wish the couple many more years of happiness together.
