Located in the vibrant city of Winston-Salem, The Crest is a venue filled with charm and a rich history. Built between 1883-1885 it has been a beloved landmark for generations. Recently transformed into a stunning wedding venue, The Crest provides an elegant and luxurious atmosphere, perfect for up scale weddings. Inspired by the timeless holiday parties that once filled this space, we designed a shoot that echoes nostalgia, sophistication, and seasonal warmth.
This inspiration shoot was crafted in collaboration with Ashton from Emerald and Elm Events. Our goal was to blend vintage holiday elegance with modern flair. Our concept centered around a cozy yet sophisticated holiday theme. It featured a color palette of warm reds and lush greens set against the bright, white backdrop of The Crest. The touch of copper and cinnamon hues added depth to the tablescape, creating an inviting design that captured the season’s warmth and richness.
We selected The Crest not only for its beauty but also for its historic significance in Winston-Salem. This majestic venue has been carefully restored to preserve its old-world charm while creating a modern, luxurious space for celebrations. Couples seeking a unique blend of history and elegance will find The Crest to be an unforgettable setting that embodies the beauty of both the past and the present.
For the bride, we chose a timeless gown from The Magnolia Bride, a beloved local boutique. This dress, reminiscent of classic holiday cinema, features a natural waist, A-line skirt, high neckline, and delicate lace details. It embodied elegance and understated sophistication.
The groom donned a classic black ensemble from Bruce’s Tuxedo. This added a touch of holiday magic with a luxurious velvet jacket. This sophisticated look complemented the venue’s historic charm while adding a festive element to the celebration.
To bring the holiday spirit to life, we incorporated classic elements like Christmas trees and wreaths. Our floral team beautifully enhanced the design with bold, textured florals, including proteas and seasonal fruits such as figs and pomegranates. Thanks to Ever Be Floral, our vision came to life with stunning floral arrangements that felt both timeless and unique.
Soft, luxurious velvet fabric was a key texture used throughout the decor, adding warmth and elegance. Rentals from Party Reflections and The Prettiest Pieces served as a perfect foundation for blending old-world charm with modern sophistication.
One of the standout design elements from this shoot was the hand-painted ornaments at each place setting. These keepsakes served as beautiful gifts for guests, creating lasting memories and a touch of nostalgia for each attendee.
For those dreaming of a holiday wedding, remember that less is often more. Leaning too heavily into traditional holiday decor can overshadow a wedding’s elegance. Instead, opt for a sophisticated color palette with varying tones. Incorporate your favorite seasonal elements, such as textured florals and warm fabrics, for a refined yet festive look.
By integrating traditional holiday touches within a classic wedding theme, you can create an atmosphere that feels like a warm winter celebration. This approach will ensure your holiday wedding feels as cozy and inviting as a cup of cider on a cold winter’s night.
The Crest provided the perfect setting for a holiday-inspired wedding shoot. It blended the warmth of the season with the elegance of Winston-Salem’s history. We hope this inspiration shoot serves as a guide for couples dreaming of a cozy holiday celebration filled with charm, sophistication, and unforgettable details.
