There’s something truly special about a December wedding, and Mary Lynne and Lee’s day at The Barn at Broadslab captured all the magic of the season. From heartfelt moments to thoughtful details, this wedding was a celebration of love, family, and joy—and we were honored to be part of it!
Our journey with Mary Lynne and Lee began long before their engagement. Back when Josh and I were teachers, we worked with Denise, Mary Lynne’s mom, who was the art teacher at our school. Denise is one of the kindest souls we’ve ever met, so when we ran into her and Mary Lynne at the Triangle Wedding Show, we were thrilled to hear the news of Mary Lynne and Lee’s engagement. When they chose us as their photographers, we couldn’t have been more excited!
Mary Lynne and Lee chose The Barn at Broadslab for its rustic elegance and serene atmosphere. Mary Lynne shared:
“We felt this overwhelming peace as soon as Lee and I pulled up to the venue. We had toured three venues before the Barn at Broadslab, and none felt right. Our venue incorporated all the aspects we wanted for our wedding, such as the barn doors and dark wood throughout.”
It was the perfect setting for their sage, champagne, peach, and white color palette—a nod to their home decor and shared daily life.
Mary Lynne’s gown, found at Simply Blush Bridal, was a vision of simplicity and timeless elegance. But the standout detail was her veil. She shared:
“Although it is flowers, from afar it looks like butterflies. Butterflies are extremely important to my family and I, as my Grammy, who passed away in 2018, loved butterflies. We always say when one is near, so is she.”
The veil added a deeply personal touch to the day, even serving as a gorgeous backdrop for her detail photos, incorporating dimension and symbolism into her images.
Mary Lynne and Lee carefully selected vendors who brought their vision to life:
December weddings come with shorter daylight hours, and Mary Lynne and Lee’s timeline needed careful adjustments to fit in all the important portraits. Working closely with Payton and the catering team, we shifted the schedule to make the most of golden hour for the couple’s and wedding party portraits. As the light faded into blue hour, we transitioned seamlessly into family portraits indoors with our flashes, ensuring every meaningful moment was captured.
From their emotional first look to their first drink together after the ceremony, Mary Lynne and Lee’s day was full of touching moments. Surrounded by seven bridesmaids, five groomsmen, and a room full of family and friends, the couple celebrated their love in a way that was both intimate and joyous. The sage, champagne, peach, and white palette reflected their shared home and life, while the Barn at Broadslab provided the perfect backdrop for their story.
Mary Lynne and Lee’s December wedding at the Barn at Broadslab was a day we’ll never forget. The personal touches, meaningful details, and the overwhelming love shared between the couple and their families made it an absolute joy to capture. If you’re planning a winter wedding in North Carolina, this day is full of inspiration for creating a celebration that feels uniquely you.
