As wedding photographers, we have the privilege of capturing love stories that reflect the personalities, traditions, and joy of the couples we work with. Magan and Matt’s winter wedding in Madison, North Carolina, at the stunning Bakery 1818, was no exception. From the charm of their venue to the unique seasonal details, their big day was a celebration we’ll always remember!
Magan and Matt, two High Point University alumni, were the winners of our 2023 Ultimate Engagement Session Giveaway. From the very first session, we connected with them instantly! Their warmth, humor, and love for each other were so evident that we were thrilled when they booked us for their wedding.
Nestled in the heart of Madison, North Carolina, Bakery 1818 provided the perfect backdrop for Magan and Matt’s winter wedding. Magan shared how emotional she felt the first time she stepped into the venue:
“I began to tear up. It felt like it was made just for us! I love cake, and having our wedding in a bakery felt like the most natural choice.”
Adding to the venue’s charm, their in-house bakery, Bake Me Happy, created a stunning multi-tier cake that looked as good as it tasted.
The couple chose a color palette of black, gold, and ivory, a classic combination that fit the elegance of their venue and their New Year’s Eve Eve celebration. This cozy winter atmosphere was accentuated by their choice of Soft Touch Flowers and Gifts for floral arrangements. The bouquet featured stunning proteas, a meaningful nod to Magan’s South African heritage.
Magan’s gown, an Allure creation from Fallen in Love Bridal in High Point, was the perfect complement to the timeless theme. As she described:
“Ah, the bow is what dreams are made of. I put the dress on, and it was like it was meant to be—stunning and elegant, timeless in the most beautiful sense.”
With four bridesmaids and four groomsmen by their side, Magan and Matt celebrated surrounded by their closest friends and family. Giannos, a favorite among High Point University alumni, catered the event with their signature Italian dishes, adding comfort and warmth to the reception.
The entertainment was led by DJ Rone, whose energy and charisma kept the party alive. Matt and Magan loved how he emphasized his role as both a DJ and a host, making every guest feel part of the celebration.
While sparklers and bubbles are popular for wedding exits, Magan and Matt chose something truly magical to honor the season—a snow machine! As the faux snow fell around them, it created a moment straight out of a winter fairytale. The soft glow of the snow and their joyful smiles made for some unforgettable photographs.
Braving the winter chill, we ventured into the charming historic downtown of Madison for portraits of Magan and Matt. The cobblestone streets and vintage storefronts provided a romantic and timeless backdrop. Their love for each other radiated through every shot, making the cold entirely worth it!
Magan and Matt’s wedding wasn’t just a beautiful celebration; it was a day filled with meaningful details and joyful moments. Watching their families come together and celebrating in such a cozy, elegant setting was a privilege for us to capture.
