The amazing Joelle Park Events planned our recent yellow wedding inspiration shoot at the Barn on New River Southfork. It showcases how sustainability can seamlessly blend with elegance and romance. Are you envisioning a summer wedding that exudes sophisticated charm while embracing eco-friendly practices? Keep reading to get inspired!
Joelle Park Events is committed to creating eco-friendly and sustainable events. As Joelle Park explains, “The core value of Joelle Parks Events Co. is creating eco-friendly and sustainable events. I love to collaborate with clients and vendors to come up with ideas on how to reduce waste in the wedding industry. My goal is to show couples and vendors that a wedding doesn’t have to look ‘eco-friendly’ or ‘green’ for it to be a more eco-conscious event.” The theme of this styled shoot, aptly named “Milk + Honey,” centers around a warm, romantic vibe with a rich palette of mustard, pale yellow, and cream.
The Barn on New River Southfork, located in West Jefferson, NC, is the epitome of sophisticated elegance. This venue features a post-and-beam barn adorned with crystal chandeliers, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With overnight lodging options and proximity to major cities like Asheville, Boone, and Raleigh, it’s an ideal choice for couples seeking a luxurious barn wedding venue. The property boasts beautiful ponds, blossoming gardens, and South Fork New River frontage, providing endless photo opportunities.
The table design was a showcase of sustainable elegance. Camille natural table linens, Tuscany mustard napkins, Gatsby gold flatware, heirloom linen chargers and plates, Charlotte gold glassware, and transparent name cards matched the invitations perfectly. All tableware and decor were rentals from Curated Events Charlotte, to avoid single-use items. Linen rentals supported BBJ La Tavola Linen’s sustainability initiatives, including carbon-neutral shipping, recycling, and energy conservation.
The traditional two-tier white cake adorned with yellow flowers was a creation of Kats Cake Kreations, adding a sweet touch to the celebration. Juniper James Bridal chose the bride’s vintage-inspired gown from Kite & Butterfly. This designer sustainably makes wedding gowns from natural and organic fabrics. This perfectly aligned with the shoot’s eco-friendly theme. Joelle paired it with yellow velvet heels and a boho braided hairstyle by Battle Born Beauty. Aesthetics by Hannah crafted our bride’s makeup look.
The floral arrangements, featured blooms grown by April Flowers NC and Paula, the venue owne, in the onsite dahlia garden. It highlighted the beauty of locally sourced flowers. This choice not only added to the aesthetic but also promoted sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint associated with flower transportation.
Collaborating with Tied and Two, we designed beautiful yet sustainable signage and invitations. The team created the table number, bar sign, and menu to be reused from wedding to wedding. The mustard yellow invitation suite with translucent details added a touch of elegance.
Several unique elements made this shoot unforgettable. Joelle transformed the old hay barn into an after-party spot where guests could enjoy cigars, whiskey, or s’mores under the stars. The Shutter Shack yellow photo booth bus, a restored 1970s VW bus, added a whimsical and nostalgic touch. “The VW bus is from the 1970s. They restored the bus to be repurposed for events! I love that Shutter Shack gave the van new life to be used in a different way,” Joelle shared.
Our yellow wedding inspiration shoot at the Barn on New River Southfork beautifully demonstrated how sustainability and elegance can coexist. With thoughtful planning and creative collaboration, it’s possible to create a wedding that’s both stunning and eco-friendly. We hope this shoot inspires couples to embrace sustainable practices while designing their dream wedding.
