Class of 2020, you were in my classroom just a few short years ago. No one told you the world would shut down right before you were supposed to launch into it, but here you are.
It feels like you will forever be marked by this crazy year. The year of the pandemic, the quarantine, the canceled trips, the suffering.
But what if we flip the script and remember 2020 as the year something amazing happened?
What if when we think of the pandemic we remember it was the year we realized how important public education and public health actually are?
When we look back on the quarantine and canceled events we think of all the time we spent with our families and actually slowed down?
When we read in history books about pain and mourning of our Black brothers and sisters, we remember this was the year things changed and we came together?
This is your year. It can be more than any of us ever dreamed it could be. I know you are smart, resilient, and ready to take on the world. I know you could be just the ones to help save it. I believe in you.
We had an amazing time last fall meeting up with Holden and Danae at the Wake Forest Baptist University Campus. Later we went to Reynolda Gardens to finish up their senior session.
During the spring we celebrated their graduation at Tanglewood Park. These two are going to do big things! Holden will be attending Wake Forest this Fall and Danae will be headed to UNCG!
Dustin joined us in Downtown Winston Salem for his cap and gown session. We enjoyed getting to know this awesome young man!
Ethan was a natural in front of the camera! He graduated from Atkins high school this year. He is an accomplished drummer at both school and his church.
