Alyssa and Nathan’s Haywood Hall Wedding in Raleigh, NC was beautiful event filled with love, joy, and a few weather challenges to overcome!
We went from warm and sunny, to dark and rainy, and back again all within a few hours. Thankfully due to our education and experience, we were prepared to capture their day no matter what Mother Nature threw at us!
Venue
The day started warm and sunny, with the last remnants of summer hanging on into October. This was our first time at Haywood Hall and we were so impressed. It is beautiful and I love all the rich history from this location. When we asked Alyssa how she new this was the perfect venue for her, she told us: “When we first toured Haywood Hall it was clear that this was the place! We looked at a bunch of venues and none had the right vibe…. I love the side garden area where the reception will take place.”
Details
All of the perfectly subtle fall details were perfect for the venue! Each place setting had a custom shot glass and airplane bottle with a “drink me” tag (as in the Alice in Wonderland reference). Alyssa’s mother did all of the florals for for the day – they are all absolutely gorgeous!
The Gown
Alyssa found her perfect gown at Carolina Bridal World. She told us that she just kept coming back to this beautiful gown by Allure and knew it was the one! She is such a beautiful bride!
For her bridesmaids and groomsman she went with shades of Raspberry.
First Look
Alyssa and Nathan chose to do a first look before their ceremony to have some special time with just the two of them. I am so thankful we had this time! The clouds were slowly rolling in at this point, but we were able to capture this quiet time in front of the house. Nathan was so emotional! First looks are a great way to build in time to slow down and have an intimate moment together on your wedding day. We have a whole post about first looks and why we love them HERE.
Ceremony
We were able to take a few more portraits outside before the storm blew through! The sky was so dark, it looked like night in the middle of the day. Thankfully we found a place in side to take family portraits before the ceremony. The sky cleared just as it was time to head back outside for the main event!
During the ceremony, the clouds began to come back and for a few moments, the sky opened up and it rained again! The ceremony proceeded on Alyssa and Nate were married under the beautiful oak trees.
Reception
The reception was filled with lots of laughter and amazing Italian food! Their first dance was even choreographed! Alyssa and Nathan’s wedding at Haywood Hall was wonderful and we are so grateful to have been there to capture it!
