March nineteenth kicked off our 2022 wedding season back in Alisha’s home state of Virginia at Burlington Weddings and Events. This historic venue in Charles City is nestled right between Richmond and Williamsburg. It was the perfect backdrop for their traditional spring wedding. When I asked Katlyn why she loved the venue, she said: “I am a classy country girl at heart so this venue is the perfect combination and it beautifully displays the old southern charm of Virginia.”
Katlyn always loved the idea of a simple classy wedding. She chose to stick with traditional colors black and white In addition, she chose to accent with the green and gold. The beautiful fields surrounding the venue were a lush green, matching her color palette. Her beautiful florals were designed by M2 Flowers and More. The colors are reflected in the invitation suite as well. These were designed by the bride herself!
The bride and bridesmaids prepared for the wedding in the adorable bridal cottage next to the primary, historic house. Katlyn’s beautiful gown was purchased at Ava Laurénne Bride. She fell in love the long, classic train and the luxurious fabric of the gown. Hair by Cynthia G and Makeup by Lou Stevens completed her bridal look. Her bridesmaids’ gowns were purchased from Azazie and the groom and groomsmens’ attire came from Generation Tux.
We were able to capture so many beautiful moments, even before the ceremony! Katlyn and her father shared a special time with their first look. We created some beautiful bridal portraits, even while battling the March wind. Both the bride and groom had special moments with the flower girl and their wedding parties.
The wedding took place on the lawn of Burlington Weddings and Events. It was a beautiful, meaningful ceremony for the couple. Directly after, we took time to capture family and couple portraits. One very important portrait that Katlyn asked us to capture was with the classic car. Hayden had a very special photo of his grandparents on their wedding day in a car that was almost the exact same make and model. She asked if we could recreate the photo with them. We were also able to capture the beautiful light at golden hour.
During the reception, Katlyn and Hayden shared emotional dances with their mother and father. For their cake cutting, they used Hayden’s sword. As a VMI graduate, this was a very important touch for him. At the end of their reception, they drove away in the beautiful classic car we photographed earlier.
