One of my absolute favorite weddings of this past year took place in the backyard of dear family friends now living in Morehead City. It was such an honor to photograph this wedding because Lauryn was part of the youth group of our church where Josh and I had been leaders. We had also photographed her sister’s wedding on the beach just the year before. Time has flown since then, especially since capturing their engagement photos on Rough Ridge back in the fall.
Lauryn’s details were sweet and simple. She chose her dress from LuLu’s because it was light and beachy. She also wore her sisters borrowed hair pins from her wedding. She got ready for her wedding at her parent’s home with her sisters. Luke and and his groomsman met at and Air BnB in the neighborhood close by. They were both surrounded by family throughout the day.
Guests gathered by the marina, the spot where they had chosen to say their vows. It was a windy, but beautiful day for a backyard wedding in Morehead City by the water. Lauryn’s father performed the ceremony. They decided to perform a foot washing ceremony, a beautiful display of love and humility, as part of their vows to one another.
After the wedding, we met at the Arendell Room in downtown Morehead City for the reception. This local bar was the perfect cozy backdrop for Luke and Lauryn to celebrate with their friends and family. The Arendell Room provided fabulous drinks, including two signature cocktails for the bride and groom, and Lauryn’s family provided the food. We spent golden hour by the water capturing some of my favorite wedding photos from this year. We finished the night partying below the neon lights.
