Last March, we had the pleasure of scheduling a birthday portrait session at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. It was for a sweet family friend, Ella. As a photographer, every session presents its own unique challenges and opportunities to capture unforgettable moments. However, as we were driving to the estate, we noticed that snowflakes were beginning to fall from the sky. This added an unexpected and exciting element to the session.
Despite the snowy weather, we were determined to make the most of the session and capture stunning photos for the birthday girl and her family. Upon arriving at the estate, We were immediately struck by the beauty of the snow-covered grounds. The snow added a magical and whimsical quality to the already stunning estate, creating a picturesque backdrop for our photoshoot.
To add to the magic of the session, Ella wore a beautiful, pink editorial gown. It perfectly complemented the snowy surroundings. Her excitement and joy were palpable as she posed for the camera. We were honored to capture her beauty and confidence in every shot.
At first, we were all surprised and a bit worried. How will the snow would impact the rest of the portrait session at the Biltmore? As we made our way to the conservatory, we quickly realized that the snow was going to be a blessing in disguise. The conservatory was warm, inviting, and filled with lush greenery and vibrant flowers. It provided the perfect backdrop for our indoor photos.
Ella was a natural in front of the camera, and her joy and excitement were contagious. I loved how she embraced the snowy surprise and made the most of our indoor location. We took advantage of the conservatory’s unique features, including the ornate floral displays, to capture stunning shots of the birthday girl.
The snow added an unexpected element of beauty and magic to the session, creating a dreamy and ethereal atmosphere. As the snow fell outside, we were cozy and warm inside, creating timeless portraits that the family will cherish for years to come.
In the end, I was grateful for the unexpected snow and the opportunity to photograph most of the session in the conservatory. It allowed us to capture stunning and unique shots that we wouldn’t have been able to achieve otherwise. The Biltmore Estate provided the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable birthday photoshoot, and we feel honored to have been a part of it. This session reminded me of the beauty and magic that can come from unexpected surprises and embracing the present moment. We are grateful for the opportunity to have captured these special memories for the birthday girl and her family. We can’t wait to see what surprises future sessions may hold.
