Kayla and Joe Chose the Isles Beach Club in Ocean Isle as the Perfect Setting for Their May Wedding
The Isles Beach Club in Ocean Isle is an idyllic spot for a coastal wedding! The beach is such a special place for this sweet couple and is where Joe proposed to Kayla. They met while they were both working at the North Carolina Zoo together. They had been engaged for over six years before their wedding. As we approach Kayla and Joe’s one-year anniversary, we want to look back on their wedding day and share some of our favorite moments!

The Look
Kayla was an absolutely stunning bride! She purchased her Maggie Soterro gown from Ashely Grace Bridal in Lynchburg, VA. Kayla had always wanted a lace gown because she loves the timeless, elegant, beautiful look of lace. She described the moment when she found her dress like this: “It fit almost like a glove and I loved the way I looked in it. I couldn’t stop smiling and my mom cried of course. When I took my bridesmaids, they both agreed that it was the ONE.”
Her hair and makeup look was completed by Beth at All Dolled Up. Kayla chose Beth because she preferred the feel of airbrush makeup, which Beth did for their engagement session. She wanted a natural, glowy look that was perfect for the beach. She also loved that Beth’s team could do hair and makeup on-site!
Kayla’s bridesmaids found their beautiful, navy gowns from BirdyGrey. Joe and his groomsmen chose classic navy suits from Men’s Warehouse to complete their look.

The Details
Kayla and Joe chose navy and silver for their wedding colors because she wanted an elegant color palette that matched the beach venue. They used the colors in her invitations and save-the-dates that Kayla designed through Zola. In keeping with the beach theme, they chose sunglasses for their guests. Kayla and Joe thought the sunglasses would be fun, but also practical for their guests. Getting a photo with the wedding party wearing the sunglasses was very important to Kayla.
For the florals and coordination, Kayla and Joe chose EverBe Floral. We had recommended EverBe Floral to the couple because we have worked with them many times before. Kayla told me that they ultimately chose Chelsea at EverBe because, “they were the nicest people – very helpful and very knowledgeable. Then I found out they do wedding coordination too and that was it for me! When Chelsea takes over, she will take over the contact with all the vendors, be at the rehearsal to finalize things, make sure everything is set up how we want it, and come up with a detailed, day-of timeline.”

The Venue
The Isles Beach Club is located in Ocean Isle, NC. It boasts the largest dance floor on the beach! They offer inclusive wedding packages that include an extensive menu that couples can customize for their wedding day. When i ask Kayla why they chose this venue, she said
“We have always had a special connection to the beach – it’s our favorite vacation place and it’s where we got engaged. This venue is close to our beach and is located right on the beach itself with a gorgeous pool deck ceremony option and huge windows in the reception space so that the ocean will still be visible inside. We liked that the ceremony and reception could be held at the same place – why waste time going from one place to another when it can all be done there!”

The Party
Kayl and Joe’s reception was so much fun! It was so full of love and joy. There were tearful moments, too. Kayla’s father, who suffered a stroke shortly before their wedding, started off the Father-Daughter dance, but other important men in Kayla’s life came up one by one to finish the dance with her in her father’s place. The DJ, Butch Barnes, kept the party going well into the night. Joe had been a DJ in his later teenage years, so he was very particular in choosing the DJ for his wedding.
The food at the reception was absolutely delicious! And the cake was so cute! Kayla and Joe chose two little starfish for their cake topper. The cake was designed by the Cupcake Shoppe Bakery in Raleigh. Kayla said, “My sister often goes here for cupcakes and we did a “cupcake tasting” in which she, my 6 year old niece, Joe and I all tried 6 flavors and voted on our favorite. When a 6 year old gives a carrot cake a 5/5, you know it’s good cake! All the flavors were delicious, they are local-ish (important to me) and the cakes they come up with are beautiful!”

Kayla and Joe ended their night with a sparkler exit. They were surprised by their adorable nieces and nephews with several cans of silly spray as they rode off into the night!

Kayla and Joe’s Ocean Isle beachside wedding at the Isles Beach Club was a wedding we had been looking forward to all year! We had an amazing time with these two love birds and truly cherish our time working with them. We hope this first year together has been amazing, and that they will have many more to come!
