When it comes to weddings, every couple’s story is unique, and their special day should reflect that. I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a stunning Black Tie Wedding at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, alongside Casie Marie for Casey Hendrickson Photography. This day filled with elegance, love, and joy, was the second day of a two-day celebration.
Michael and Ashley chose to legally marry during the pandemic. However, they didn’t want to miss out on the full wedding experience. This celebration was not only a testament to their love. It was also a chance to honor the bride’s heritage and share their joy with family and friends. The first day was marked by a vibrant and colorful African ceremony, a nod to their cultural roots. The second day, however, was a classic, elegant affair—a Black Tie Wedding at the Mint Museum Charlotte.
The ceremony took place in the stunning Robert Haywood Morrison Atrium. The atrium’s expansive space and modern design provided the perfect backdrop for this sophisticated event. The natural light that poured in through the large windows highlighted the soft, feminine silhouette of Ashley’s gown, which was a focal point of the day. Jas’d Up by Jasman completed Ashley’s flawless hair and impeccable makeup done by Terri Craft Rodgers.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved upstairs to the Mattye and Marc Silverman Grand Room. This elegant space was transformed into a breathtaking reception area, thanks to the incredible work of the vendor team. Events by Evelyn orchestrated the day flawlessly. The CLUXE brought Evelyn’s vision to life with their beautiful florals and rentals. The room was filled with bold, romantic details that perfectly matched the sophisticated black-tie theme.
One of the highlights of the day was taking portraits on the museum’s terrace. The terrace provided a stunning view, and the soft evening light made for some truly magical photos. After capturing these moments, we hopped on a bus with the wedding party to a second location for more portraits in Uptown Charlotte. The city’s skyline and urban backdrop added a dynamic contrast to the classic elegance of the day.
This wedding wouldn’t have been possible without an impeccable team of vendors. Cake Expressions by Lisa provided a show-stopping cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful. The attention to detail in every aspect of the day was evident, from the florals by The CLUXE to the seamless planning by Events by Evelyn. Each vendor contributed to creating a day that was not only beautiful but also full of love and joy.
What made this wedding even more special was the presence of the couple’s young son. He served as the guest of honor. His joyful energy and the love shared between him and his parents added an extra layer of warmth to the day. The couple was surrounded by their closest family and friends, all of whom came together to celebrate this beautiful union.
This Black Tie Wedding at the Mint Museum Charlotte was more than just a celebration. It was a reflection of the couple’s love, their journey, and their commitment to each other. From the elegant ceremony in the Robert Haywood Morrison Atrium to the stunning reception in the Mattye and Marc Silverman Grand Room, every detail was meticulously planned and beautifully executed. It was an honor to capture these moments and be a part of such a special day.
