This lovely spring wedding at the Ivy Place, just outside Charlotte, NC was full of touching moments and turned into one of the best parties we attended in 2022! Nichole and Drew chose hold their ceremony under the towering oak tree that stands at the back of the venue. They carefully planned many sentimental moments into their day and including their daughter was very important to them.
The Ivy Place is a beautiful farm just outside Charlotte and is the perfect place for a spring wedding. The manor home stands in the middle of the beautiful gardens surrounding the venue. The large tented reception area next to the manor house overlooks the rolling hills dotted with old wooden barns. The towering oak tree at the back of the property is the ideal backdrop for the wedding ceremony. I asked Nichole and Drew why they specifically chose the Ivy Place and they said, “We chose this venue initially because of its natural beauty, its history, and its sense of comfort. The final decision to choose this venue was on our second visit. As we walked the property again, a stepping stone on the front path read Drew’s favorite Bible verse, Ecclesiastes 3. It was at that point that we were destined to be married here.”
Nichole chose lilac and light blue color palette, because purple is Nichole’s favorite color and blue is Drew’s favorite color. Paired with the soft greens, this is a lovely, fresh color palette for an April Wedding. Nichole shared with me that their florist Meredith at BirchNWillow was very helpful. Meredith took the time to go through Nichole’s Pinterest board and design florals that would match their chosen colors. Ace Wedding Planning carried out Nichole and Drew’s vision for the day.
When we arrived Nichole, her daughter, and her sisters were all getting ready at the bridal cabin located on the property. We carefully documented all of Nichole’s carefully chosen details. Josh joined the groom and his party as they were getting ready in the Manor house. Nichole and Drew chose to have a first touch at the cabin. Doing this carved out a few special moments just for the two of them to prepare for the wedding ceremony about to take place.
The ceremony took place under the big oak tree. Surrounded by family and friends, Nichole and Drew exchanged their vows with lots of tears and laughter. The most touching moments happened just after – Drew chose to make vows to not only Nichole, but also Nichole’s daughter, who would become his daughter. After Nichole and Drew exchanged rings, he also had a special piece of jewelry for their daughter. This beautiful new family came together under the oak tree and not a dry eye was to be found.
After this emotional ceremony, everyone came together to celebrate under the reception tent! This was an awesome party and was the first time a groom looked at us both and said “Camera’s down – come and dance with us!” And dance we did! Lauren from Split Second Sound kept the party going well into the night. We were also so thankful to be included in the meal options for the evening. Drew and Nichole chose to have both a taco truck and pizza truck from Queen City Food Trucks cater the event. The food was absolutely delicious. We finished off the night with a cake and dessert table from none other than the bride’s own sister who owns and operates 100% Sweet.
