Hannah & Josh’s Surprise Proposal on Lake Higgins in Greensboro started on a cold, winter morning, but ended with warm, full hearts

Does anyone remember February 2020? It feels like forever ago.

Well, back in February, my amazingly talented florist friend told me she needed help with a secret project. Her best friend’s boyfriend, had asked her to to help plan a secret proposal! She immediately contacted me for a “styled shoot.” Our secret cover was a sunrise styled shoot on the docks of lake Higgins just outside Greensboro to show off a new bouquet and dress design. Having done styled shoots with us before, her best friend Hannah willingly agreed and was none-the-wiser!

I have to stop and make a plea for early morning shoots. Golden hour is gorgeous in the evening, but the mornings are just delicious. When booking your shoot with us, we will always suggest a morning session because of this lighting. Seriously though – look at these shots! The Proposal

We met the morning of March 8th (less than a week before the Covid shut down!) at lake Higgins and began shooting in some of the prettiest light I have ever seen! Hannah was absolutely stunning in her green, velvet dress from Southern Bride and despite the cold, she was so excited to be there!

On the lake shore, Josh was waiting for her boyfriend (also Josh) to arrive. I was given the signal and asked Hannah to turn around and face the sun so I could get a different angle. As I “adjusted my camera” and continued to talk, Josh snuck up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. She slowly turned around and said “What are you doing here?” Josh got close and began to describe how much he loved her, he shared some very special Bible verses and then said “I’m going to propose.” Hannah began to cry and Josh got down on one knee as he pulled out the ring and asked the most important question of the day “Will you Marry me?”

Hannah, replying through tears, said “YES!”

The two embraced and Josh threw his hand in the air and yelled, “We did it!”

We all began to cheer with excitement! Now that Hannah was finally in on the secret, we continued our photo session around the lake and took some of my most favorite engagement photos ever!
