Caitlin and Jeff are getting married later this week and we wanted to take a minute to share the photos from their fun beach session. The chose Sunset Beach NC for their engagement session because it is a very special spot for them. Caitlin shared with me that they hope to own a beach home on the island one day. It is easy to see why it is such a special place. Miles of beautiful coastline as far as the eye can see. And just like its namesake – one of the most brilliant sunsets we have every experienced. This was one of our first times visiting, and it definitely won’t be the last.
We started shooting in the shade cast by the dunes. The sun was still high when we arrived, so we didn’t want to put them out in the full sun just yet. The beautiful glow was diffused through the grass at the top of the dunes.
We pulled them away from the dunes to get into the water for a minute. You can see just how drastically the light has changed. The sun is starting to get low and the warmth is very intense. It was very windy, but the sky was so clear and blue!
We moved up to the boardwalk that was just as beautiful as the beach. From here you have the best view of the sunset as it drops below the horizon. You can see the marsh in the distance that sits at the edge of the island. While walking around we talked about our favorite tourist spots and restaurants. Not only Caitlin and Jeff, but so many other people recommended Ellas of Calabash. We decided to take the short drive out there and Ella’s did not disappoint!
We made it back out to the water just before the sun completely set. This was the end of the session, so they weren’t afraid to let loose and have a little fun!
