Last June, we had the immense pleasure of capturing the wedding of two incredible individuals, Kate and Gage at the romantic mountain venue, Nantahala Weddings. Both finishing their medical residencies—Kate specializing in obstetrics and Gage in surgery—this couple’s love story is as inspiring as their dedication to their professions. Their wedding, set against the backdrop of the beautiful North Carolina mountains, was a perfect blend of romance, seclusion, and heartfelt moments.
Finding Us and Falling in Love with Hawksbill Trail
Kate and Gage discovered us on Instagram, and we quickly bonded over their shared passion for the outdoors. We had an amazing engagement session at Hawksbill Trail in Linville, NC. The breathtaking views and intimate moments captured during the hike made it a truly memorable experience for all of us.
Choosing the Perfect Romantic Mountain Venue: Nantahala Weddings
The couple chose Nantahala Weddings for their venue, a decision driven by its romantic and secluded atmosphere. Kate said, “It felt romantic, secluded, and we loved the mountains. We also loved that we could do everything there.” The venue provided the perfect setting for a celebration that was as beautiful and serene as their love for each other.
A First Look to Remember
Their First Look took place at Wayah Bald Lookout Tower, a short drive from the romantic mountain venue Nantahala Weddings. The moment was magical, with Gage turning around to see Kate in her wedding gown for the first time. The stunning mountain view and the sight of his bride took his breath away, creating a moment that neither of them will ever forget.
The Perfect Gown and Bridal Party Attire
Kate’s wedding gown by Lovers Society, found at Lovely Bride in Houston, was the epitome of boho elegance. “I wanted something with sleeves and a boho feel. It was the first dress that I tried on and absolutely fell in love with how it made me feel. Every dress after that paled in comparison. I canceled all my appointments after that one,” Kate shared.
Her bridesmaids wore various gowns in different shades of blue, allowing each to choose a dress they loved and felt beautiful in. This thoughtful choice added a personal touch and a lovely palette to the wedding party.
Groom and Groomsmen Style
Gage and his groomsmen looked dashing in light gray suits, sans ties, with pocket squares adding a touch of elegance. The relaxed yet sophisticated look perfectly complemented the boho-chic theme of the wedding.
Boho and Colorful Floral Decor
The decor and floral choices were vibrant and eclectic, featuring a mix of blues and colorful wildflowers. Kate wanted to highlight the natural beauty of the region, opting for flowers that were native and in bloom during that time of year. Great Blue Farms, chosen for their emphasis on the colorful, wildflower aesthetic, brought Kate’s vision to life beautifully.
Expert Planning for a Smooth Celebration
To ensure everything ran smoothly, Kate enlisted the help of Shayla from All the Things Events. “She came highly recommended, and I wanted someone that made the day run smoothly. She has been wonderful to work with and seems to get what we are looking for,” Kate explained. Shayla’s expertise and attention to detail ensured that the day was perfect from start to finish.
Personalized Bourbon Bottles: A Special Touch
One unique and personal touch was the inclusion of personalized bottles of bourbon. Kate and Gage enjoy winding down with a glass of bourbon, often reflecting on their week around a fire in their backyard. “We enjoy talking about our challenges, accomplishments, successes, and areas of growth, and what we learned around a fire in our backyard with a glass of bourbon,” Kate shared. This thoughtful detail added a meaningful and personal element to their celebration.
